In honour of Africa month, which falls in May, the theme at our assembly this morning was a celebration of the legacy of our late former President in his centenary year. Nelson Mandela was born one hundred years ago, on 18 July 1918. He left future generations with some very wise words, such as the following:
“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.”
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
“I never lose, I either win or I learn.”
We also listened to the introduction of the African Union Anthem as part of the I MEDITATE AFRICA peace campaign.
